Terms of Service — Guest Check

These terms govern your use of the Guest Check app and this website. By using Guest Check you agree to them. If you do not, please do not use the service.

1. What Guest Check is

Guest Check monitors public posts from restaurants, bars and cafés you choose to follow, and notifies you when something appears that might change your plans — a closure, a sold-out night, an early kitchen close, a one-day special.

We are not the venues. We report what they publish. We do not control their hours, their menus, their accuracy, or whether they posted at all. Always confirm with the venue before relying on anything you read here — particularly a closure, and particularly if you are travelling to get there.

2. Your account

You must be 13 or older to use Guest Check.
Use a phone number, email address or social account that is actually yours. Signing in with someone else's number is not permitted.
Keep your sign-in method secure. Anyone who can receive your verification codes can reach your account.
You can delete your account at any time from the app, or by emailing us.

3. SMS messaging terms

By entering your phone number and continuing, you consent to receive a one-time verification code by text message from Guest Check at that number, sent through an automated system.

Program: Guest Check account verification.
Messages: one one-time passcode per sign-in attempt.
Frequency: varies with how often you sign in.
Cost: we charge nothing. Message and data rates may apply from your carrier.
To opt out: reply STOP.

Consent is not a condition of purchase or of using Guest Check. Apple, Google and email sign-in are available and require no phone number.
We send verification codes only. Guest Check does not send marketing or promotional text messages.
Replying STOP ends the messages. You will then need to sign in with Apple, Google or email, because we can no longer deliver your code.
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is not guaranteed, and messages can be delayed or filtered by your carrier or handset.
Tell us if your number changes or you give it up, so codes are not sent to whoever holds it next.

4. Acceptable use

Please do not:

Scrape, resell, or redistribute content from Guest Check.
Attempt to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the service, or work around rate limits.
Request verification codes for numbers that are not yours, or in volume.
Use Guest Check to harass a venue or another person.

We may suspend accounts that do these things, usually after telling you why.

5. Content and ownership

Posts, images and business details shown in Guest Check belong to the venues that published them, and appear here to point you to the source. The Guest Check name, design and software are ours. Venue operators can have their content removed by emailing gm@guest-check.net.

6. Availability

Guest Check is provided as-is. It is an early product; features will change and there will be outages. We do not promise that a notification will arrive, or arrive in time. Treat it as a helpful signal, not a guarantee.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Guest Check is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the service — including a wasted trip to a venue that turned out to be closed, or open. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified in the app before they take effect, and the date above will change.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Rhode Island, USA.
