GUEST CHECK
Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Guest Check collects, why, and who it goes to. It covers the Guest Check mobile app and this website.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
If you sign in with a phone number, we use it for two things and no others: sending you a one-time verification code, and identifying your account on subsequent sign-ins.
| Program | Guest Check account verification |
|---|---|
| Messages you get | A one-time passcode, sent when you ask to sign in |
| Frequency | Varies — one message per sign-in attempt |
| Cost | We charge nothing; message and data rates may apply |
| Opt out | Reply STOP to any message |
| Help | Reply HELP, or email gm@guest-check.net |
| Carriers | Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages |
Consent is not a condition of anything. You can use every part of Guest Check without giving us a phone number — sign in with Apple, Google, or an email address instead. If you reply STOP, we stop texting you; you will need to switch to one of those other methods to sign in.
Delivery is handled by Plivo, our messaging provider. They receive your phone number and the code in order to deliver it, and are contractually restricted to that purpose.
If you sign in with Apple, you may choose Apple's private relay address. We support it; we never receive your real address in that case.
Guest Check reads content that restaurants, bars and cafés publish publicly on their own social accounts, and stores copies of those posts and their images so the app can display them after the original link expires. This is business information, not personal information about you, and it is limited to what those businesses have already chosen to publish.
If you operate a venue and want it removed, email gm@guest-check.net and we will take it down.
We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
Only service providers who need it to make the product work, each limited by contract to that purpose:
| Provider | What they get | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Account record, follows, preferences | Database, authentication and hosting |
| Plivo | Phone number, verification code | Delivering the one-time passcode |
| Resend | Email address | Sending confirmation and password-reset email |
| Apple, Google | Push token | Delivering push notifications to your device |
| Cloudflare | Venue images (no personal data) | Storing and serving mirrored images |
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect the safety of people using the service. If Guest Check is ever acquired, we will tell you before your information moves.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights — to know what we hold, to have it corrected or deleted, to opt out of sale (we do not sell), and not to be discriminated against for exercising them. The same address handles all of these.
Traffic is encrypted in transit. Access to production data is limited to people who need it. Authentication links and codes are single-use and short-lived. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise — but we do not store passwords in a recoverable form, and we do not store verification codes at all.
Guest Check is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and notify you in the app before the change takes effect.
